Abstract
The article discusses the problem of developing cross-curricular skills in 7th grade students in the process of teaching German in the context of competence-oriented general secondary education. The essence of the concept of ‘cross-curricular skills’ in contemporary educational discourse is analysed and its meaning is clarified in the context of foreign language training for adolescents. Based on an analysis of scientific, pedagogical, and linguistic research, the article substantiates the feasibility of integrating communicative-activity and competency-based approaches as a methodological basis for the formation of cross-curricular skills in the process of teaching German. It has been proven that the effectiveness of this process is ensured by the purposeful combination of the development of speech skills with the formation of critical thinking, information literacy, social interaction and self-regulation skills. The article defines the pedagogical conditions for the formation of cross-curricular skills in 7th grade students. The criteria and indicators of the formation of cross-curricular skills in the process of foreign language teaching are outlined. The results of the study indicate a positive dynamic in the development of students' communicative, social, and cognitive skills under conditions of systematic implementation of pedagogical conditions.
