Abstract

The continuation of the war of attrition and its growing threats to the civilian population, particularly student youth, requires ensuring psychological readiness to counteract their destructive impact. The purpose of the article is to define the emotional component of student youth’s psychological readiness to counteract environmental and epidemic threats, and to determine the effectiveness of psychotechnologies for its support under the conditions of a war of attrition. An empirical study was conducted on a sample of 26 individuals aged 16–18. The Screening Questionnaire of Psychological Readiness to Counteract Environmental and Epidemic Threats in Wartime and psychotechnologies for its support were utilized. At the first stage of the study, low levels of feelings of depression and anxiety (73.1%), medium (34.6%) and high (46.2%) levels of optimism about the future, high levels regarding control over one’s life (53.8%), and confidence in one’s own thoughts and beliefs (57.7%) were identified. About half of the respondents reported medium levels of knowledge and skills to counteract environmental and epidemic threats, as well as medium levels of confidence in doing so in the event of a real-world encounter with them. At the second stage of the study, the levels of students' independent practice of psychotechnologies to support the emotional component of their psychological readiness were examined, and the effectiveness of their use was proven. Students who reported medium and high levels of practicing these psychotechnologies demonstrated significantly more prominent indicators of medium and high levels in most questions and statements compared to the low-practice group. The practical significance of the study lies in substantiating the expediency of developing a training course and a practical seminar for educational process participants focused on ensuring psychological readiness to counteract the threats of a war of attrition and preventing its impairments.
