Abstract
The article is devoted to identifying and classifying trends in the professional training of academic staff at higher military educational institutions (HMEIs) for working with adults amidst the current transformations of Ukraine’s military education system. The relevance of the study is driven by contradictions between: the increasing requirements for the quality of professional activity of HMEI academic staff and their insufficient level of readiness to implement an andragogic approach; the need for flexible, individualised development trajectories and the dominance of formalised approaches to professional development; and the necessity for rapid responses to wartime challenges versus the inertia of existing educational practices. It is established that the key feature of the necessary transformation is the andragogic orientation of training, which involves a reorientation towards the subjectivity of the adult learner, the utilisation of their professional experience, and ensuring the practical significance of learning. As a result of the study, an original classification of trends in the professional training of HMEI academic staff for working with adults is proposed across six areas of transformation: methodological (andragogisation of the educational process, consolidation of the competency-based approach and subject-to-subject interaction); substantive (practical orientation, integration of operational and combat experience, interdisciplinarity); organisational (continuity of professional development, individual educational trajectories, integration of formal and non-formal education); technological (digitalisation, distance and blended learning, active methods); professional and personal (development of leadership qualities, pedagogical reflection, readiness to work under conditions of uncertainty); and contextual (adaptability of the training system, crisis-response orientation, consideration of the impact of martial law). The practical significance of the findings lies in the possibility of using the proposed classification as a theoretical basis for improving the professional development system for HMEI academic staff, designing educational programmes, and implementing modern approaches to adult education. Prospects for further research are associated with the development and experimental verification of pedagogical conditions for the implementation of the identified trends.
