Abstract
The article presents the results of an analysis and substantiation of the regulatory framework for environmental education and digital pedagogy, as well as the necessity of integrating the potential of both fields for the formation of environmental competence, worldview, environmental awareness, and ecological culture among learners. The current state of development of the regulatory framework related to the organization and implementation of environmental education is analyzed, in particular: the Law of Ukraine “On Education”, the Concept of Environmental Education in Ukraine, the Concept of National-Patriotic Education in the Education System of Ukraine, the National Program for the Education of Children and Youth in Ukraine, the National Doctrine for the Development of Education in Ukraine, and the Concept of the New Ukrainian School. Existing regulatory documents concerning digital pedagogy are also considered, including the Laws of Ukraine “On Digital Content and Digital Services” and “On the National Informatization Program”, as well as the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine “On Approval of the Concept for the Development of Digital Competences and Approval of the Action Plan for its Implementation” and “Certain Issues of Digital Transformation”. The expediency of implementing the potential of digital pedagogy in environmental education is substantiated based on the conducted analysis of documents and the relevant thesaurus within the context of the study. The use of digital technologies (audio and visual tools in real time, text messaging, online text, audio and video chats, e-mail, communication and discussion forums, etc.) is confirmed as appropriate. The influence of augmented and virtual reality, artificial intelligence, robotics, media education, gamification, and STEM/STEAM education on the development of digital educational content in general and environmental education in particular is demonstrated. Recommendations are proposed for the implementation of digital technologies in environmental education, including digital educational platforms such as “All-Ukrainian School Online”, “Diia. Education for All”, “EcoEducation”, “Education for Life”, “EcoSystem”, and “Ecodia”. It is confirmed that learners and educators can use the freely available information provided on these platforms for writing research papers or completing environmental projects.
