Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive theoretical-methodological and historical-pedagogical analysis of the phenomenon of historical memory as a component of the spiritual culture of Ukrainian society in the context of national-patriotic education in higher education institutions of Ukraine during 2005–2021. Conceptual approaches to understanding historical memory as a socio-cultural phenomenon are revealed, and its structural components and functions in shaping the national identity of student youth are outlined. The regulatory and legal framework of the studied period is analyzed, in particular the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” (2014), the Concept of National-Patriotic Education of Children and Youth (2015), as well as the activities of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine aimed at coordinating and providing methodological support for patriotic education in higher education institutions. The main stages of the transformation of the state memory policy in 2005–2021 are identified, and their influence on the content and forms of educational work in the university environment is characterized. It is substantiated that during the specified period historical memory acquired the status of one of the key phenomena of the spiritual culture of Ukrainian society, integrated into the system of national-patriotic education in higher education institutions. Its development took place in interaction with political, social, and cultural transformations, which led to a shift from predominantly conceptual interpretation to systematic practical implementation and consolidation of its strategic importance for state educational policy.
