Abstract

The theses examine the development of cultural competence in students of grades 7–9 during foreign language lessons as an essential component of the modern educational process. The concept of cultural competence is defined in accordance with the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education, and its role in fostering tolerance, intercultural understanding, and students’ cultural identity is outlined. The main thematic areas of cultural content are analyzed, and effective types of learning tasks for developing cultural competence are proposed. The importance of a systematic approach to integrating the cultural component into foreign language education is emphasized.
