Abstract
The theses address the problem of declining reading literacy among students in the context of PISA results and the impact of the digital information environment. The study substantiates the use of reciprocal teaching as an effective approach to developing foreign language reading strategies in grades 7–9. The roles of skimming, scanning, predicting, clarifying, questioning, and summarizing strategies in developing critical reading skills are defined. The importance of reciprocal teaching for fostering critical thinking, communicative skills, and social interaction among students is emphasized.
