Abstract

The article provides analysis of typical characteristics for generations Z and Alpha. These characteristics should be taken into account by teachers while constructing classes in educational establishments of Ukraine in order to find out the possible ways for improving effectiveness of learning process. In addition, some disadvantages of traditional foreign language teaching from a modern point of view are systematized to choose the most appropriate learning styles for pupils and students of generations Z and Alpha to improve their results. This work is based on the analysis of statistical data and empirical research, allowing to assess the advantages, disadvantages, development and functioning of various methods and approaches to teaching foreign languages in order to find the most optimal ways of building working communication between teachers and students, which may contribute to greater educational progress of modern students, taking into account their psychophysiological characteristics. Representatives of digital generations often have the problem of social adaptation, which creates a pedagogical need to pay special attention to the development of students’ communicative and socio-cultural competence (especially in our time of needed fast European integration). It can be done by means of a foreign language, which can also contribute to the upbringing of emotional intelligence in relation to others: etiquette, empathy, tolerance to the culture of different nations and points of view of other people, as well as the freedom of expression. To achieve this goal, we consider mediation as a modern educational strategy of deep immersion (“languaging”) into a foreign language and culture in order to form “cultural fit” – the basis for successful integration in a foreign language environment. The paper reflects the author’s methodological recommendations as for the most effective (from one’s own pedagogical experience) modern strategies of teaching foreign language (English) in New Ukrainian School.
