Abstract
The relevance of developing critical thinking among learners in profile education at the current stage is determined by the strategic priorities of national security and the provision of the state's global economic competitiveness. In developed countries, critical thinking is interpreted as "Soft Power" and an integral component of the graduate's key competencies, meeting the demands of a post-industrial society. The dynamism of the modern world determines the priority of an individual's capacity for critical rethinking, verification, and innovative application of information, ensuring effective self-realization in conditions of high uncertainty. In national pedagogical and psychological science, critical thinking emerges as a complex cognitive formation encompassing the operational-procedural component, reflexive procedures, and behavioral manifestations of the individual. The conceptual basis of critical thinking development in Ukrainian didactics relies on the fundamental theory of the stage-by-stage formation of mental operations and the didactic principles of educational individualization. This approach allows for considering criticality as an integrative quality of the personality, ensuring its intellectual agency and readiness for conscious life choices. A special role in this process is played by the creation of specific didactic conditions and procedures, through which the mastery of logical operations is transformed into a stable strategy of the student's autonomous cognitive activity. Under war conditions, critical thinking becomes a vital resource due to the need for fostering the cognitive resilience of youth to hybrid threats during martial law. The work substantiates that the development of critical thinking as a transversal skill is an effective safeguard against manipulative influences and a tool for preparing proactive subjects capable of making responsible decisions. The author's analysis is based on the synergy of international standards and fundamental achievements of the national didactic school, which allows for considering critical thinking as the operational base for the ability to learn and the foundation of the learner's agency. Particular attention is paid to the transformation of cognitive processes at the present stage: the role of critical thinking as an intellectual filter amid the dominance of generative artificial intelligence and the risks of algorithmic indoctrination (the covert influence of digital algorithms on the formation of the individual’s worldview, beliefs, and values). It is demonstrated that the normative consolidation of critical thinking in educational standards creates a didactic basis for overcoming "clip thinking" and transitioning to conscious intellectual labor. The development of this phenomenon in blended learning conditions ensures a harmonious combination of individual student freedom with civic responsibility and academic integrity. Thus, critical thinking emerges as a guarantor of sustainable development, technological dominance, successful life self-determination of the individual, and a reliable foundation for national resistance.
