Abstract
The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the transformation of the content of national-patriotic education in Ukrainian schools in 2005–2021 in the context of the state policy of memory. The integration of historical memory into the content of history and civic education courses is studied; changes in curricula and conceptual approaches to teaching social science disciplines are clarified. It is determined that patriotic education in schools is aimed at educating national culture and spirituality, forming national worldview positions, ideas, views and beliefs in children and youth based on the values of domestic and world culture. It is substantiated that during the specified period, there was an increase in attention to the formation of national identity, civic responsibility and value-based understanding of the historical experience of the Ukrainian people. It is established that historical memory in school content gradually acquired not only informational, but also educational and worldview significance, becoming an important factor in the consolidation of society. Education, in turn, based on the national idea, should form in young people such national interests and traits that could meet the needs of society. The article examines the transformation of the content of national-patriotic education in Ukrainian schools in the period 2005–2021 through the prism of memory politics. It analyzes how historical memory was integrated into the content of history and civic education courses, examines the dynamics of content changes, implementation mechanisms, as well as the influence of state policies and socio-cultural factors on the formation of students' national identity. It is determined that curricula increasingly focused attention on socially important historical events, personalities, and moral and ethical lessons of the past, which contributed to strengthening the civic position of young people and a deeper understanding of the historical experience of the Ukrainian people. It is proven that during 2005–2021, historical memory became an integral part of the educational process in secondary educational institutions of Ukraine, contributing to the formation of national identity and patriotic values, where the emphasis was placed on the relationship between culture and national identity, which formed a holistic understanding of students about the historical past.
