Abstract
The article presents the results of an empirical study on the impact of the full-scale invasion on professional activity and the psychological state of people with higher education, namely university lecturers. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing number of people who are forced to leave their homes because of hostilities. As a result, they face significant difficulties that often cause psychological problems and strongly affect their level of resilience. The resilience test developed by S. Maddi (adapted) was used as a diagnostic tool. In addition, the relationship between resilience indicators and the chosen coping strategies of internally displaced persons was studied using the questionnaire by R. Lazarus and S. Folkman. The results of the study showed that university lecturers who were forced to relocate after the start of the war demonstrate specific features of resilience. At the same time, those who did not relocate after the beginning of the full-scale invasion, despite living in dangerous areas and conditions, show a higher level of resilience and may have a better ability to control the situation and accept risks. The empirical study proved that the level of resilience among internally displaced persons and forced emigrants is lower than among people who did not move to other regions or countries after the outbreak of the war. It was found that the level of resilience of internally displaced persons and forced emigrants is influenced by the following factors: the length of time spent in the status of a displaced person or emigrant, the availability of social support, the level of adaptation to a new environment, and psychological well-being. The study shows that under conditions of full-scale war, the adaptation of internally displaced persons to new living conditions requires significant psychological resources, the core of which includes resilience and effective coping strategies.
