Abstract
In the difficult times that Ukraine is currently experiencing, there is an urgent need for national-patriotic education of the younger generation. Scientific research by employees of the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which recreates historical sketches of figures of the past, can be an example and a powerful tool that teachers will use in the educational process of Ukrainian schoolchildren. It has been proven that this process is greatly influenced by the educational institution, which should become the center of formation of a citizen-patriot of Ukraine, ready to selflessly build an independent, democratic state, care about its national security, increase the well-being of people, contribute to the unity of the Ukrainian people and the establishment of peace and harmony in society. School is the living space of a child; here he does not prepare for life, but lives. The research methodology is based on general research methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, observation and abstraction, which are used to systematize achievements in the theory and practice of education, in particular, school education. The results of the study showed that the upbringing of children plays an important role in this. Every act of a teacher should testify to his sincere love for his native land and for the entire multinational Ukraine. Using examples of figures from the past, we briefly showed how they defended the right of Ukrainians to national education (language, culture), considered approaches to various ideas and projects for reforming education, its labor and professional direction, and its connection with life in the educational process, in particular, considered nationalism as a worldview of the Ukrainian people, dreamed of returning to the moral values of Ukrainians created by previous generations; participated in the Ukrainian movement, fought for the preservation of the peculiarities of social and cultural identity, and first put forward the idea of political independence of Ukraine. It is proved that one of the most important tasks of the revolutionary transformations was the Ukrainianization of the school. The enlightened people advocated the revival of the state traditions of the Ukrainian nobility and the preservation of the peculiarities of its social and cultural essence, which were considered extremely valuable for the Ukrainian people. The activation of the cultural and educational movement, the creation of conditions for the study of the Ukrainian language, the development of the national school, science, culture, the protection of national interests by cultural and educational figures and today produces fundamental works that will be the basis for the national-patriotic education of schoolchildren and youth, who will become true patriots of their Motherland in the future.
