Abstract

The article analyzes the European variable models of quality assurance in general secondary education in the context of contemporary challenges and trends in the transformation of educational systems. The concepts of “public accreditation of an educational institution” and “institutional audit” are examined. Based on a comparative analysis, the study explores quality assurance models, principles of school autonomy, the role of national agencies, standardization systems, and assessment of learning outcomes in Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, and Finland. The potential for adapting European experience to the Ukrainian education system is substantiated, taking into account the national context—particularly the need to develop a culture of quality, improve monitoring mechanisms, and enhance the professional autonomy of teachers.
