Abstract
The article examines the theoretical and methodological foundations as well as practical aspects of using large language models (LLMs) as an innovative tool for individualizing the learning of Ukrainian as a foreign language. Employing an interdisciplinary approach, the study analyzes the linguodidactic, cognitive, and technological aspects of foreign language training and identifies the pedagogical conditions, principles, and methodological approaches for integrating artificial intelligence into the process of developing linguistic and communicative competence of international students. Particular attention is paid to the potential of LLMs to provide personalized learning content and adapt educational trajectories to the individual needs of students, thereby enhancing motivation, engagement, and learning efficiency. The article highlights the potential of LLMs to foster learner autonomy by offering instant explanations, recommendations, interactive exercises, and reflective tasks, which contribute to the development of self-regulation and metacognitive skills. The role of LLMs in improving the quality of feedback between teacher and student is examined through automated correction of grammatical, lexical, and stylistic errors, as well as the provision of contextualized explanations and suggestions for language improvement. The synergistic effect of combining the technical capabilities of LLMs with pedagogical guidance and expert evaluation is emphasized, ensuring the effectiveness of the educational process and promoting the development of professional communicative competence. The study also addresses the methodological and ethical aspects of integrating LLMs into the learning process, including teacher preparation, training students to critically evaluate model outputs, ensuring academic integrity, and protecting personal data. Practical recommendations are proposed for designing adaptive learning scenarios, combining automated feedback from LLMs with periodic expert review, and organizing a digital educational environment oriented toward the individualized development of students.
