Abstract

The article presents the results of a study on the impact of tolerance/intolerance to uncertainty and its structural components on the overall level of subjective well-being among of student youth. A rationale for the methodological toolkit has been provided, and a description of the sample consisting of student youth receiving education at the first (bachelor's) and second (master's) levels in various higher education institutions has been presented. The research results on students' attitude towards uncertainty have been presented, showing that the indicators across all scales are within the range of average values. This provides grounds to assert the balanced nature of both tolerant and intolerant attitude towards uncertainty among the subjects under study. It has been ascertained that in complex situations young individuals may experience anxiety, lack confidence in their actions, and may limit their choices to some extent, taking into account the level of complexity and uncertainty of the situation. They tend to seek a safe, stable, predictable world where disorder and chaos are minimized. At the same time, they are moderately open and positive towards new situations, open to new experiences, ready for novelty, and capable of solving complex tasks. They are aware of themselves as agents of their own actions and understand that they can control their lives, and to some extent, they optimistically evaluate their successes and failures. Based on the results of the study of subjective well-being of student youth, it has been determined that all the indicators also are within the range of average values. The obtained results indicate that despite the complex and uncertain social situation associated with the war, along with a certain level of anxiety about the future and the emergence of negative emotional reactions in the face of uncertainty, students still demonstrate the ability to find meaning in their efforts and life tasks. They experience a sense of purpose in their existence (life goals) and strive to realize their abilities, remaining open to new experiences (personal growth). The youth demonstrate an adequate level of the ability to construct their lives in accordance with their own beliefs (autonomy); meet the demands of their environment and overcome difficulties (environmental management); maintain a positive self-perception (self-acceptance); and strives to establish close relationships with others based on support and empathy (positive relationships with others).
