Abstract

The article is dedicated to the philosophical analysis of the phenomenon of conscience from the standpoint of humanistic values. Conscience is considered as a person's internal responsibility for the surrounding existence, as the ability to comprehend any situation in the sense of personal morality, which is not simply "human-centered", but encompasses the entire world. Special attention is paid to the issue of freedom of conscience and counteraction to violence in the situation of an authoritarian and totalitarian state.
