Abstract

Fed'kovych Yuri Osyp аuthor of school textbooks for folk schools, regional inspector. He began his teaching career as a school inspector of Vyzhnytskyi district (1869), in which at that time there were 7 folk schools, 7 more appeared in the first year of his inspectorship (1869-1876). During the first year of work, he prepared a songbook (1870) and received permission from the Regional School Council to introduce it into folk schools. He conducted extensive educational work. As a sincere Ukrainian nationalist and educator, he directed his activities towards the enrichment of the culture and education of the Ukrainian people, the awakening of national consciousness, the revival of the culture of the Ukrainians of Bukovina, the formation of Ukrainian schooling in the conditions of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Main works: "Ukraine" (1862), "Who are we?" (1885), "Songbook", "New Sich" (to the tune of "Ukraine is Not Dead Yet" (1887), etc.
