Abstract

The issue of protecting the mental health of the Ukrainian people in the conditions of the prolonged russian-Ukrainian war is one of the main problems of the socio-humanitarian sphere in both scientific and practical aspects, since the state of moral and psychological well-being of a person in the country determines the general state of society and social relations in particular. The scientific report highlights the problems of protecting and supporting the mental health of Ukrainian citizens in the conditions of large-scale russian aggression; analyses modern challenges and problems of researching the mental health of Ukrainians during wartime; presents the activities of the National Academy of Mental Health of Ukraine to protect the mental health of Ukrainians during martial law; substantiates and develops strategic directions for strengthening the effectiveness of providing practical assistance to victims both at the national level and at the level of the community and individual. It was found that the problem of protecting the mental health of Ukrainian citizens in the conditions of war in general and participants in the educational process in particular is a priority for all scientists of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine — psychologists and teachers. During the period of martial law, the Academy's institutions pay special attention to the problems of protecting and supporting the mental health of Ukrainian citizens, carry out a significant amount of fundamental and applied research, participate in all-Ukrainian and international projects, provide volunteer assistance to various categories of victims, primarily soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, their families, and all participants in the educational process. The analysis of the problem of protecting and supporting the mental health of citizens of Ukraine in the conditions of large-scale russian aggression against Ukraine made it possible to develop scientifically based recommendations for the most effective solution to the identified problems and adjustment of strategies for supporting the mental health of Ukrainians and determining the most effective methods of assisting victims.
