Abstract
The scientific work of Georgy Ivanovich Chelpanov reflects the complexity and contradictions of the process of separating psychology from philosophy and its acquisition of its own scientific status. In his works of the pre-revolutionary period, he acts as a supporter of the theory of psychophysical parallelism, asserts the independence of psychology as a science built on introspection, and considers the synthesis of analytical and experimental methods to be a condition for its development. In the 1920s, he goes beyond the boundaries of introspective psychology, focusing on the study of consciousness as a cultural phenomenon. G.I. Chelpanov is the author of textbooks that have been reprinted many times for higher and secondary educational institutions in psychology, logic, and philosophy. His main work, which has survived 7 editions during his lifetime, is “Introduction to Philosophy” (modern reprint), which reveals the tasks of practical ethics, which include certain ideals of raising a child in society. Main works: "Textbook of Psychology (for Gymnasiums and Self-Education)" (1917, 14th ed.), "Democratization of School: Regarding the Project of the State Committee for Public Education" (1918), "Works: in 4 vols.: Vol. 1. "Introduction to Philosophy" (2014), etc.
