Abstract
The content of basic chemical education is considered as an object of pedagogical design. The need to adhere to the following initial positions is substantiated: competency-based approach; continuity and succession of levels of education; integrity of natural science education; focus on research and project activities; ensuring life activities; development and deepening of the Ukrainian studies aspect; correlation of the content and effective parts; taking into account the digitalization of education.
