Abstract

The article deals with the essence of psychological support and its importance in modern society. The purpose of the study is to identify the key features of psychological support for women who suffered from violence during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Psychological support helps to stabilise a person's mental state, restore a sense of calm and trust, and normalise mental health. In times of war, it plays an important role in reducing stress, preventing the development of mental disorders and improving the quality of life of those affected. Thanks to such support, people find the strength and inner potential to overcome difficulties and maintain emotional balance. The article pays specialattention to gender-based violence, which includes physical, sexual, psychological and economic violence. This phenomenon often occurs in conditions of discrimination and oppression, manifesting in private and public life. In Ukraine, the issue of gender-based violence is regulated at the legislative level by the following international and national acts: The UN Charter (1945), the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), the Declaration on the Protection of Women and Children in Emergency and Armed Conflict (1974), the Law of Ukraine ‘On Preventing and Combating Domestic Violence’ (2007), the Law of Ukraine ‘On Combating Trafficking in Human Beings’ (2011). The study analyses the types and forms of violence that are most often recorded during war and identifies the specifics of psychological support for women in such conditions. The main types of violence and their specific manifestations are identified. Separate attention is paid to war-related sexual violence and the peculiarities of psychological as sistance to women who seek professional help. The article also highlights the problem of domestic violence during the war. The article presents analytics for six years, demonstrating the number of registered domestic violence cases and their correlation with actual appeals to the court. Separate recommendations are provided for the close environment of women who have experienced psychological trauma in order to facilitate their rehabilitation. The author identifies algorithms of actions that will help accelerate the emotional recovery of victims as full-fledged individuals.
