Abstract

The results of a survey conducted using Google Forms from June to September 2024 among patients with coronary artery disease and comorbid conditions were analyzed to study the impact of drug consumer characteristics on adherence to treatment. A statistically significant relationship was identified between adherence levels and consultation practices, specifically among patients consulting only doctors versus those consulting both doctors and pharmacists. Patient awareness of the key differences between original and generic drugs was assessed. The main reasons for discontinuation of pharmacotherapy among adherent patients were also identified. It was demonstrated that higher drug prices correlate with increased adherence to pharmacotherapy; however, due to the low socio-economic status of the population, many patients discontinue pharmacotherapy once they begin to feel better. Additionally, it was found that patients using the "Affordable Medicines" program often cannot access certain medications recommended by international and domestic clinical guidelines under the program.
