Abstract
Over the past five years, the world has intensified reflection on the need for specialization in transport psychology, which would reflect the specifics of work in water transport, especially maritime transport. Our personal and team reflections and rethinking as essential components of reflection have led us to formulate the paradox of our non-institutional development, especially in comparison with aviation psychology. The latter has long been a recognized and intensively developing field, while maritime psychology still remains a somewhat peripheral specialization, and bachelor's-level counselors for the maritime industry are trained in the world on the basis of military specialties (psychology, social work) and clinical (medical) psychology.
