Abstract

The formation of gender-role competence as an integral component of the socialization process significantly influences personality development and its positioning in society. Which roles are important? What guides me when I perform, for example, the role of ‘Daughter’ or ‘Son’? Readers will find answers to these and other questions in this handbook. It offers a theoretical justification of the process of gender socialization among youth and describes a training program for developing perceptual gender-role competence. By completing a series of exercises, readers will also be able to assess the effectiveness of the training program in terms of enhancing young people’s competence regarding gender-role manifestations. The handbook presents the results of the program’s practical implementation and methodological recommendations for its use. It is intended for specialists in gender psychology, social psychologists, managers concerned with issues of gender balance in society, university lecturers, students, and all interested readers
