Abstract
Background and purpose. The relevance of the study is due to the need to clarify the role of personal qualities in the development of young people's representations about life success, which will further identify ways to help young people who have experienced failures in the past and have problems with self-determination. The purpose of the article is based on the results of empirical research to identify social and psychological peculiarities of developing representations about life success among young people with different life experiences. Findings. The results of an empirical study provide an opportunity to identify a number of social and psychological peculiarities of development of representations about life success among young people. Socio-compensatory peculiarities show that the failure experience actualizes the influence of negative personality traits on the process of determining the content of the axiological component of representations. Socio-status peculiarities characterize the influence of the easy success achievement experience among young people with positive aspects of self-esteem on the strengthening of the importance of social recognition and career. Power status peculiarities are based on the fact that the difficult or easy success achievement experience in the past equally strengthens the role of power values in the choice of influence and wealth as landmarks of life success. Manipulative orientation peculiarities mean that due to the influence of the failure experience among young people with negative aspects of self-esteems, the life success achievement occurs through the devaluation of generally common rules and exaggeration of the role of social connections. Normative orientations are manifested in increasing the importance of generally common rules and strengthening the focus on oneself rather than on social connections. Practical applications of the results are seen in a more in-depth study of the impact of failure on the development of success strategies and in the development ofactive care programs and recommendations for young people experiencing difficulties in planning their future, personal and professional self-determination.
