Abstract

The actuality of the research is specified by the necessity of resolving the issue of young generation emotional intelligence development and the needs of psychological and medical practice in countering the negative consequences associated with neurotic disorders. Since the last ones are an important risk factor for the individual mental health. The invistigation shows that the young people with depression and anxiety-phobic disorders have lower level of emotional intelligence than mentally healthy representatives of the youth category, which was manifested in the poorly developed ability of the former to consciously regulate emotions. Moreover, the specificity of the interrelation between psychophysiological factors and the ability of a mentally healthy young person to identify, use, understand, consciously regulate emotions is expressed in the fact that the average and high levels of affective and cognitive, behavioral and activity, motivational and reflective components of emotional intelligence were shown by those subjects, who had a pronounced level of nervous system strength and mobility, as well as the ability to self-regulate affective and cognitive functions and conditions.
