Abstract
The publication is concerned with the issue of traditional and electronic catalogues functioning under modern conditions of information technologies development, their essence and plase in the information spase of the library. The autor analyzes the roll of a structural library unit in creating a common information spase and providing readers with free access to book editions and necessery information about them, the problem of the readers information needs.
