Abstract

In the article an innovation contribution is generalized to cultural and educational development of the Slavic people of one of the most prominent representatives of baroque - professor, chancellor of the Kiev Mohyla academy, church, reformer, writer, enlightener Theophane Prokopovichа. Totality of contradictory historical and biographic information about him and hypotheses related to it, the ambiguousness of his acts is caused by contrasting estimations and interpretations of activity and creative inheritance of this historical person. The ideas of sermons and labours of Th. of Prokopovich, from one side, predetermined distribution of reformative influenced, and from other - caused accusing of heresy and propaganda of lutheran spirit from the supporters of оrthodoxy.
