Abstract

The article describes the regulations on the formation of cross-cutting skills, which are defined by the State Standard of Primary Education. The ability to read comprehension and the ability to express one's own opinion as the most important for primary school age are determined, the essence of these concepts is clarified. The types of tasks that contribute to the development of the above cross-cutting skills are identified. The results of the analysis of tasks in textbooks on the Ukrainian language and reading for 1st and 2nd grades are described in order to provide them with the opportunity to develop the ability to read and understand.
