Abstract

The article reveals the importance of social media as an educational space of education for peace. Analyzed a various social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn, where people from all over the world can to interact with their countrymen, like-minded people and people from other countries and their opinions. Identified, that social media can promote peace through dialogue between people of different ethnic, religious and political backgrounds. This dialogue can change attitudes, perceptions and encourage greater tolerance, and understanding between ethnic groups that would not otherwise be able to interact. Social media allows people from all sections of society to express their individual views. There is a powerful tool, and makes it good or evil depend on everyone. Presented how social media influencing conflicts, political struggles and collective action on a massive scale, including the annexation of Crimea and the actions of ISIS terrorists. Today, no social conflict can be considered without examining how the parties to the conflict use social media and their impact on the trajectory of the conflict. The article also illustrates how social media can be a tool for resolving conflicts when providing information is reliable, respects human rights, and presents different views. Such posts in social networks reduce of conflicts and contribute to human security. Therefore, it is important for people to make effective use of resources that provided by the media, libraries, archives and other information services. Media literacy is important for long-term peacebuilding and should be a part of peace education programs. Clear and critical approach to any information is a tool for combating misconceptions, prejudices and hate speech.
