Abstract

The article deals with the problems of regional ethnography component of foreign language educational and culture content in high school. An elective course "Welcome to Ukraine" for high school students learning English is introducing. An analysis of the course importance and requirement for school practice is given by publicly available surveys of teachers and high school students. The principles and criteria for the regional ethnography and local history material selection according to the course and study program are reviewed. The role of regional ethnography and local history component of the foreign language educational content as a mean of intercultural communication in the "dialogue of cultures" is defined.
