Abstract

The article deals with the relevance and nature of implementation in Ukraine of such social and educational innovation as patronage of children. Patronage of children – is a temporary care and upbringing of the child in family of a patronage parent for a period to overcome by a child, parents or people who replace themin difficult life circumstances, and/or during the time deciding on acquiring the status of an orphan-child, children deprived of parental care and determine the formof further placement. The description of the main methodological approaches (systemic, crosssector and inter-agency, integrated) and theories that constitute the theoretical basis of patronage: the theory of objective relations, interpersonal relationships, affection, deprivation, adaptation, renewal, concept strengths of others. It is noted that family of patronage caregiver – family, where the availability of agreement and support of all its members is present, adult patronage caregiver acts in a professional basis. Key objectives of caregiver-parents are named: the formation of the sense of child-security, the development of basic trust to other people, support of a child in cognition and understanding of the world, other people, himself; help to the child in the regulation of his own emotions, desires, behaviors, development of self-awareness, the formation of a healthy identity and selfassessment.
