Abstract

This article focuses on the revival of national Cossack`s martial art in modern times; the problems of military – patriotic education of children and youth in the times of Cossacks and there have been mentioned the possible variants of using it nowadays. Here there has been described a system of national martial art – horting, originating from the history of Cossacks times and alternatively created to substitute the eastern martial arts. Attention is drawn to: horting and its great pace of development in Ukraine and abroad; programs approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and their promptness to be used at the educational institutions of Ukraine; scientific researches on „horting“, conducted in the lab of physical development of the Institute of Problems on Education of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine and in domestic educational institutions; further development and improvement of military – patriotic and physical education of the younger generation and all the population of our country that can become the impulse of the development of healthy life style and patriotism among the Ukrainians.
