Abstract

The article is devoted to the current approaches in investigating the problem of tolerance. Features of the modern understanding of the phenomenon of liberality and tolerance are discovered. The paradigm of relation between liberality, tolerance and intolerance is analyzed. Their nature, structure and constituents are disclosed. The main difference between liberality and tolerance is defined. This difference is motivational and value expression. The internal mechanisms of creation and development of liberality and tolerance are described, the leading mechanisms among them being acceptance and patience. Patience provides endurance, self-possession, self-control, inhibition of impulsive state and actions. The essence of acceptance consists of inclusion of another person in the sphere of individual identity through understanding and empathy. It promotes the adoption of self-confidence, willingness to take responsibility for actions, constructive approach to problem solving that does not affect the interests of the others. The boundaries of the principle of liberality and tolerance are defined. The person’s liberality is everything that does not threaten him/her personally, groups or society. If there is any danger of physical impact, the boundaries of liberality will constrict. In this case, a person has the right to apply the necessary measures even pressure on another person under the current laws.
