Abstract

In the methodological recommendations, pharmaceutical care to patients with mental health disorders is considered as an interprofessional process of introducing scientific knowledge to justify effective decisions in pharmacy institutions and in the health care system. The definition of the concept of "mental health" in the context of providing pharmaceutical care and psychosocial support to patients with mental health disorders is substantiated. The main international strategies and concepts that reveal the essence of providing pharmaceutical care to patients with mental health disorders are highlighted; the main regulatory and legal documents of the current Ukrainian legislation, which regulate the provision of pharmaceutical care in pharmacies to such patients, are defined; a semantic analysis of the definition of "mental health" was carried out; the principles of providing pharmaceutical assistance are defined and their role at the state level is characterized. The author emphasized the importance of staffing for the implementation of psychosocial support in pharmacy institutions - professional training of pharmaceutical workers. The significance of evidence-based medicine for improving the quality of pharmaceutical services in pharmacy institutions, their connection with effective communication skills, is substantiated. Presentation of applied aspects of pharmaceutical care for patients with mental health disorders gives integrity to scientific and methodical recommendations. Scientific and methodological recommendations are intended for applicants of institutions of higher medical and pharmaceutical education at the first (bachelor's), second (master's) and third (scientific and educational) levels of higher education; students of postgraduate pharmaceutical education. Theoretical material can be used by students of postgraduate and pharmaceutical education, pharmaceutical workers and medical representatives; scientific and pedagogical workers of institutions of higher pharmaceutical education, patient organizations, etc.
