Abstract

The article presents the results of the analysis of UN acts on the protection of children's rights in general and the right to education in particular, primarily in the context of armed conflicts. It is emphasized that modern challenges and threats actualize the issue of creating a safe educational/school environment. It has been established that in order to preserve educational institutions as protected and safe spaces for students and teachers, an intergovernmental political agreement – Safe Schools Declaration – is of great importance. It was stated that the states that joined this document undertook to ensure the protection of education from attacks and to limit the use of educational institutions for military purposes, in general to create a safe school environment in conditions of armed conflicts, as well as obligations to restore educational infrastructure etc.
