Abstract

The author's version of the approach to outlining the modern methodology of the history of education (and the history of pedagogy) as a local applied field of historical science is presented. It is argued that historical-educational local history is now an important component of the formation of cultural-historical memory, but it is not a separate branch of science, but a sub-branch of the history of education, and therefore is a local sub-sub-branch of historical science, therefore, it is necessary to follow the methodology of historical research in pedagogical local history studies. 4 trends in the development of pedagogical local studies in the days of Ukraine's independence have been identified.
