Abstract

The textbook contains the materials of the standard course "Experimental Psychology" for psychological faculties of universities. It outlines the methodological principles psychological research, stages of development of the experimental method in psychology, the classification and characteristics of empirical methods of psychological research are given, three main research paradigms are analyzed — descriptive, correlational, and manipulative. The procedure and organization of the psychological experiment are considered in detail, sources of occurrence and methods of controlling variables, schemes of basic experimental and quasi-experimental plans. Research methods in traditional fields are briefly presented experimental psychology. In the final chapter of the first part of the textbook, it is explained an experimental study of a Ukrainian student on original problems, which is still was not the subject of research in domestic psychology. The textbook is intended for students and teachers of psychology faculties, as well as for anyone interested in psychological research methods.
