Abstract

The monograph presents the results of collective research on the design of educational environments using augmented and virtual reality tools in secondary education institutions in Ukraine. Based on the analysis of foreign and domestic scholars' research, the state of development of digital educational environments in educational institutions, modern approaches, and the theoretical-methodological framework were determined. The advantages, peculiarities, and risks of using augmented and virtual reality in the learning process were identified; classification features were justified and developed, and the classification of virtual reality educational environments was carried out according to the classification feature "by purpose"; advantages of using augmented and virtual reality technologies for students with special educational needs were determined. Principles and approaches to the application of AR/VR in educational practice were specified; pedagogical conditions and methods of using AR/VR for teaching students in secondary education institutions were justified. A theoretical basis and a model of a digital learning environment using AR/VR were developed; a procedural model for teacher preparation for using AR/VR for student instruction; a conceptual model of AR/VR usage in secondary education institutions; a methodical system for using AR/VR in the educational environment of secondary education institutions were developed and justified. A toolkit and criteria and indicators for determining the effectiveness and safety of using virtual and augmented realities in the educational process were developed. Intended for researchers, pedagogical staff, doctoral students, postgraduate students, master's students, teachers of postgraduate pedagogical education institutions, and teachers of secondary education institutions dealing with theoretical and practical issues of improving the quality of education based on the introduction of information and communication technologies into educational practice.
