Abstract

The paper is devoted to the problem of development of media literacy and media competence of youth. The authors consider storytelling as one of the powerful means of its improvement. Main advantages of this method are analyzed and it is noted that its use in educational practice allows young people to: understand and reflect on their own life experience in war conditions, learn how to create your own patriotic media content, increase the level of readiness to effective communication with peers on social media, reveal their own creative potential and opportunities for self-expression, master useful skills and online tools, develop digital literacy. The authors emphasize that in educational practice storytelling should be used in combination with other methods, such as the development of critical thinking and fact-checking skills. This approach in working with young people allows us to hope for a synergistic effect both from the point of view of patriotic education and in the context of developing media competence of youth.
