Abstract

The article analyzes the concepts of "competence" and "digital skills" in terms of their formation in future specialists in telecommunications and computer engineering. It is noted that digital skills are becoming more relevant than ever, primarily due to the digital revolution that the labor market is experiencing, as well as the urgent need for them, which was caused by the quarantine restrictions due to COVID-19 and the emergency situation due to the war unleashed in Ukraine. The forced transition to mixed and distance education prompted the search for new methods and forms of improving the digital competences of education seekers. The author analyzed the key aspects of digital competences, including the ability to work with network equipment, programming skills, and the ability to analyze and solve problems in communication networks and telecommunications and computer equipment malfunctions. The article also highlights the practical aspects of acquiring digital skills through courses and obtaining certificates from international organizations. The general purpose of the article is to provide a clear idea of the importance of the formation of digital competences among qualified specialists in telecommunications and computer engineering and to emphasize their key role in the development of the modern telecommunications sector. As a result of the study, it was established that the development of digital skills among students of technical specialties in colleges is critically important in today's technological world. This is important for several key reasons: firstly, digital skills are required by technology companies because it allows them to implement and use new technologies more effectively; at the same time, specialists with digital skills have an advantage in the labor market, as they can adapt more quickly to new technological requirements and solve complex tasks; also, the development of digital skills helps students to be ready for future technological transformations.
