Abstract

The article raises the issue of education children and students in the digital age. It is emphasized that a school (an institution of general secondary education) under the context of digitalization is a powerful social institution that is able to be a leader for the younger generation in the diversity of information and social communications. The school should consider digital technologies as a means of formation of a personality who can realize their abilities, develop creative potential, learn how to behave safely in social and digital space, avoid various risks in their own lives. Education of the student’s culture of behaviour of in the digital space as an important task of the school. The culture is a qualitative measure of the children and students’ activities, which is carried out by using resources and means of the Internet for self-development, knowledge, communication, self-expression, personal needs and interests. Furthermore, it is based on social norms and rules, values of freedom, responsibility, respect for the thoughts and actions of others, security (own and other people). There are educational tasks, which will promote growth of the young person in the conditions of digitalization, such as: development students’ responsibility and motivation; students’ orientation on the rules of hygiene in using cyberspace; development students’ skills in informational orientation, the ability to analyse, critically evaluate the received information; creation situations of success for each child; development of children’s ability to communicate with others; children’s involvement in real action that teach them responsibilities, rules of human coexistence; children’s immersion in creative work; organization of various activities of for schoolchildren; establishing subject-subject interaction between teachers and students, establishing respect and trust between them. It is noted that the proper children and youth’s culture of behaviour in the digital space largely depends on the quality of family education, the parents’ ability to understand the opportunities and risks of digitalization of children’s lives, to be important mediators in their child’s interaction with subjects and objects of digital space.
