Abstract

The theses show what a prominent place the pedagogical press occupied in the development of national education in the Ukrainian state in 1917–1918. It was highlighted that the magazine "Free Ukrainian School" became a kind of encyclopedia of the development of schooling in Ukraine, where the ideas of building education on national foundations with the native language of instruction were considered.
