Abstract

The tasks accumulated in the collection "European quality of education for better student achievement: a collection of PISA tasks for the development of students' reading literacy. Part 2", take into account the best practices of European countries in PISA research to improve the performance of Ukrainian students. The materials have been developed within the framework of the Jean Monnet module "European Quality of Education for Better Student Achievement" (620287-EPP-1-2020-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE), which is being implemented at the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine in 2020-2023. The module is aimed at familiarising Ukrainian educators with effective practices for developing key competencies and basic skills throughout life. The tasks are original: they have been prepared by Ukrainian teachers based on the PISA 2018 mock test questions. The collection contains ten tasks, which are structured in two formats: a teacher's version with an explanation of the assessment criteria and a student's version that can be used as a handout. The key criterion for the selection of tasks was the promotion of the national idea, culture, history, and modern European integration achievements of Ukraine. In addition to developing pupils' reading literacy, the tasks are intended to convey knowledge about Ukrainian borsch, coffee traditions, and Ukraine as a breadbasket of Europe and the world. A collection of PISA-formatted tasks for the development of students' reading literacy. Part 2 (2023) is a contribution to the implementation of the competence-based, activity-based and child-centred approaches prioritised within the framework of the New Ukrainian School reform.
