Abstract

For identifying the dynamics of changes in the characteristics of self-identification of Ukrainian youth, the results of a study conducted in 2017 and 2023 using the "Who am I?" method were compared. First of all, it can be noted that there has been an increase in the degree of significance of national identity for young people. But in general, both studies proved that young people's ideas about themselves are characterized by a fairly high level of differentiation and a positive valence of self-identifications. Compared to the previous study, the number of words used for self-description increased significantly this year, especially among students who have stayed in Ukraine. At the same time, they mainly use nouns and verbs, while respondents outside Ukraine use mainly adjectives. That is, the self-identification of the students who have stayed in Ukraine is mostly rational, while those who left for Europe are emotional.
