Abstract

The article presents a theoretical generalization and an empirical study of the factors of socio-psychological adaptation of Ukrainians to the conditions of forced migration to the USA. Modern domestic and foreign literature was analyzed and it was found that migration is a multi-stage process unfolding over time, which contains many psychological aspects and is accompanied by the transformation of the entire system of social and psychological relations, including interpersonal, family, parental, labor, and leads to significant stress psychological mechanisms. Objective and subjective factors affecting the dynamics of social and psychological adaptation of migrants are highlighted. The hypothesis is put forward that the existence of a relationship between indicators of vitality, coping strategies, assertiveness and social-psychological adaptation and its indicator - psychological well-being. The empirical study described in the article proves this hypothesis. It was found that only a part of Ukrainians who migrated to the USA show a high level of adaptability and a high level of emotional comfort and psychological well-being. It was concluded that it is necessary to find ways to psychologically support the process of socio-psychological adaptation of Ukrainians to the conditions of forced migration in order to increase its effectiveness, which will include the following directions: psychological support, assessment of the psycho-emotional state and correction of violations in it, development of adaptation potential (assertiveness, vitality and effective coping).
