Abstract
The issue of improving the system of professional education and training in the world and EU countries is the subject of consideration. Some general trends are identified: strengthening the role of employers in the educational process; positive results of decentralization, growth of the informal employment sector. The need to introduce new forms and methods of education in the conditions of the transition to a green economy is indicated.
