Abstract
The problem of modernization of the content of the integrated course “Teaching literacy” and preparation of an innovative study guide for the 1st grade is updated in the thesis. The competency-based potential of the author's manual for teaching literacy (by Vashulenko M.S., Vashulenko O.V., Pryshchepa O.Yu.) regarding the implementation of the requirements of the content lines of the Standard Educational Program is disclosed.
