Abstract

A professional portfolio is a vehicle for both self-assessment and collaborative assessment: it guides and records the complex processes involved in dynamic assessment of professional development. Although developing a portfolio is not a simple linear process, it may be helpful for learners to conceptualize the process in terms of six steps: self-assessment, selection of materials, justification, setting goals, creating a structure, further developing the portfolio.
