Abstract

The article examines the issue of adult education in Ukraine as a component of continuous education, lifelong education. Global trends in the field of adult education are highlighted, including forms of adult education and the use of new technologies. It is determined what formal and informal education is; it is shown that adult education is part of the general educational system, which ensures a constant and continuous process of raising the level of education of the population. An integral part of continuous education, which is adult education, is singled out, which is qualitatively different from other educational fields in terms of content, form, technology, methods and teaching methods. It can significantly change life and open up new opportunities: study in formal, informal, and informal education systems, reveal your artistic and cultural potential, lead a healthy lifestyle, and improve employment opportunities. It is substantiated what lifelong learning is, and it is established that adult education is a component of the general education system that ensures a constant and continuous process of raising the level of education of the population. Adult education is considered as one of the mechanisms of strengthening society and improving the quality of life. Various draft laws that provide for the joint distribution of duties and responsibilities between the state, stakeholders and citizens have been analyzed. In this movement, it was established that reforming and improving the system of adult education will, in our opinion, allow to develop it as a holistic system that will increase the level of development of the individual and society, will restore the rights of every citizen to continuous education throughout life, and will also create objective conditions for maximum growth. It has been proven that modern adult education should be carried out in various forms (formal, informal, informal) and create conditions for the assimilation of knowledge, the formation of abilities and skills (competencies and program results) for the realization of a person's life goals. It should provide a person with the opportunity to develop, master new areas of activity and ensure improvement of professional competence. So, the final goal of adult education, in our opinion, is the formation of a competent, competitive personality, who takes an active public position and participates in economic, social and personal life.
